Van Halen was an American rock band formed in Pasadena, California in 1972. The band was founded by brothers Eddie Van Halen on guitar and Alex Van Halen on drums, along with singer David Lee Roth and bassist Michael Anthony. Van Halen achieved worldwide fame with their self-titled debut album in 1978, which featured the hit singles "Runnin' with the Devil" and a cover of The Kinks' "You Really Got Me."
Known for their energetic live performances and innovative guitar techniques by Eddie Van Halen, the band went on to release several successful albums throughout the 1980s, including "1984" and "5150."
