Van Halen was an American rock band formed in Pasadena, California in 1972. The band was founded by brothers Eddie Van Halen (guitar) and Alex Van Halen (drums), along with David Lee Roth (vocals) and Michael Anthony (bass). They are considered one of the most successful and influential bands in the history of rock music.
Van Halen achieved massive success with their self-titled debut album in 1978, which included the hit singles "Runnin' with the Devil" and a cover of The Kinks' "You Really Got Me." The band went on to release several more successful albums, including "1984" and "5150." Known for their energetic live performances and Eddie Van Halen's innovative guitar playing, the band has sold over 80 million records worldwide. Despite lineup changes over the years, Van Halen remained a popular and influential force in rock music until their disbandment in 2020.
