Van Halen was an American rock band formed in 1972 in Pasadena, California. The original lineup consisted of Eddie Van Halen on guitar, Alex Van Halen on drums, David Lee Roth as the lead vocalist, and Michael Anthony on bass. The band is known for their energetic live performances, innovative guitar techniques by Eddie Van Halen, and a string of hit songs throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
Van Halen achieved commercial success with their self-titled debut album in 1978, which included the classic rock anthem "Runnin' with the Devil." The band went on to release several multi-platinum albums such as "Van Halen II," "1984," and "5150." Van Halen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. Despite lineup changes over the years, Van Halen remained a popular and influential rock band until their disbandment in 2020 following the death of Eddie Van Halen.
