Vanity, born Denise Matthews on January 4, 1959, was a Canadian singer, actress, and model. She initially gained fame as a lead singer of the girl group Vanity 6, which was created by Prince. Vanity released two solo albums in the 1980s, including the successful "Wild Animal." She also appeared in a number of films, including "The Last Dragon" and "Action Jackson."
Vanity struggled with drug addiction and health issues throughout her life. In the 1990s, she became a born-again Christian and renounced her previous lifestyle. She eventually became a preacher and dedicated her life to evangelism. Vanity passed away on February 15, 2016, at the age of 57 due to kidney failure, a result of years of drug abuse.
