Born on December 19, 1952, in New York City, Murphy studied at the Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard School of Music. He has composed music for numerous films and television shows, including the animated series "Family Guy" where he serves as the primary composer. Murphy has received several awards for his work, including two Grammy Awards and an Emmy Award nomination for his contributions to "Family Guy."
In addition to his successful career in composing for film and television, Walter Murphy has also released several albums as a solo artist, showcasing his unique blend of classical music with contemporary genres such as disco and pop.
