War is an American funk band formed in 1969 in Long Beach, California. The band's sound is a fusion of funk, soul, Latin, jazz, reggae, and rock music. They are known for their hits such as "Low Rider," "Why Can't We Be Friends?" and "Cisco Kid." War's music often addresses social and political issues, reflecting the tumultuous times of the 1970s.


The band originally consisted of Eric Burdon, Howard Scott, Harold Brown, B.B. Dickerson, Lonnie Jordan, Charles Miller, and Lee Oskar. Over the years, the lineup has changed, with various members coming and going. War has released numerous albums and continues to tour and perform to this day, maintaining a dedicated fan base around the world.
