The band's original lineup consisted of lead vocalist Jimmy Hall, guitarists Jack Hall and Ricky Hirsch, keyboardist John Anthony, bassist Jack Hall, and drummer Lewis Ross. Wet Willie achieved commercial success in the 1970s with hits such as "Keep On Smilin'" and "Street Corner Serenade". Their music blended elements of rock, soul, and R&B, and they were known for their high-energy live performances.
Throughout the 1970s, Wet Willie released several albums and toured extensively, gaining a loyal fan base. Despite some lineup changes over the years, the band continued to perform and release music into the 1980s.
