When in Rome was a British new wave synth-pop band formed in 1987. The band members included Clive Farrington, Andrew Mann, and Michael Floreale. Their most popular song, "The Promise," was released in 1988 and became a hit in the United States, reaching the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song also gained popularity in the dance and alternative music scenes.
When in Rome's self-titled debut album was released in 1988 and featured a blend of catchy melodies, synthesizers, and emotional lyrics. Despite the success of "The Promise," the band did not achieve the same level of commercial success with their subsequent releases. When in Rome disbanded in the early 1990s but reunited in the 2000s for some live performances. Their music continues to be remembered and celebrated by fans of 80s new wave and synth-pop music.
