Artist Bio:
Wild Cherry was an American funk rock band formed in Mingo Junction, Ohio, in 1970. The band was led by guitarist Rob Parissi and gained fame with their hit single "Play That Funky Music" released in 1976. The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and also topped the Hot Soul Singles chart. It was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).


"Play That Funky Music" remains Wild Cherry's most well-known song and solidified their place in music history. The band released several albums during the 1970s, including their self-titled debut album which featured the hit single. Wild Cherry disbanded in the early 1980s, but their music continues to be celebrated and remembered for its infectious groove and energetic sound.
