He is best known for his powerful and energetic vocal style, which earned him the nickname "The Wicked Pickett." Pickett had a string of hits in the 1960s and 1970s, including "In the Midnight Hour," "Mustang Sally," and "Land of 1000 Dances."
Pickett was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1999. He was known for his electrifying live performances and his influence on the development of soul music. Wilson Pickett passed away on January 19, 2006, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest soul singers of his time.
