Wilson Pickett was an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter who was born on March 18, 1941, in Prattville, Alabama, and passed away on January 19, 2006, in Reston, Virginia. He was known for his powerful, raw vocal delivery and energetic stage performances. Pickett began his music career in the 1950s as the lead singer of the group The Falcons before embarking on a successful solo career in the 1960s.
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Wilson Pickett released numerous hits, including "In the Midnight Hour," "Land of 1,000 Dances," and "Mustang Sally." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and is considered one of the greatest soul singers of all time.
