Wilson Pickett was an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter born on March 18, 1941, in Prattville, Alabama. He is best known for his powerful and energetic vocal delivery, earning him the nickname "The Wicked Pickett." Pickett's music career took off in the 1960s, with hits such as "In the Midnight Hour," "Land of 1000 Dances," and "Mustang Sally" becoming classics of the soul genre.


Pickett was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1999, recognizing his significant contributions to the music industry. He passed away on January 19, 2006, but his music continues to be celebrated and remembered for its influence on soul and R&B music.
