Wilson Pickett was an American R&B and soul singer and songwriter born on March 18, 1941, in Prattville, Alabama. He gained fame in the 1960s and 1970s with his powerful voice and energetic stage presence. Pickett was known for his soulful hits such as "In the Midnight Hour," "Mustang Sally," and "Land of 1000 Dances," which helped define the sound of Southern soul music.


Pickett was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991, recognizing his significant contributions to the music industry. He was also known for his collaborations with other legendary artists, including Otis Redding and Bobby Womack. Wilson Pickett passed away on January 19, 2006, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the greatest soul singers of his time.
