Wilson Pickett was an American R&B, soul, and rock singer-songwriter known for his powerful and energetic vocal delivery. Born on March 18, 1941, in Prattville, Alabama, Pickett began his music career in the 1950s as a member of various vocal groups before launching his solo career in the early 1960s. He is best known for his hits such as "In the Midnight Hour," "Mustang Sally," and "Land of 1,000 Dances," which helped define the sound of soul music in the 1960s.


Pickett was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and is often referred to as the "Wicked Pickett" for his raw and gritty vocal style. He continued to perform and record music throughout the 1970s and 1980s before passing away on January 19, 2006, in Reston, Virginia. Wilson Pickett's influence on soul and rock music is undeniable, and his legacy continues to inspire musicians around the world.
