Wilson Pickett was an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter born on March 18, 1941, in Prattville, Alabama. He gained fame in the 1960s for his powerful and energetic vocal style, often referred to as one of the greatest voices in soul music. Pickett is best known for hits like "In the Midnight Hour," "Mustang Sally," and "Land of a Thousand Dances."


Throughout his career, Pickett released numerous successful albums and singles, earning him the nickname "The Wicked Pickett." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1999. Wilson Pickett passed away on January 19, 2006, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the most influential soul singers in music history.
