MC Lyte, whose real name is Lana Michelle Moorer, is an American rapper and songwriter known for her pioneering contributions to hip hop music. She gained fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s with hits like "Paper Thin" and "Ruffneck". MC Lyte is considered one of the first female rappers to achieve success in the male-dominated hip hop industry.
