Yaz is a British synth-pop duo that was formed in 1981. The band consisted of Alison Moyet on vocals and Vince Clarke on synthesizers. They were also known as Yazoo in the United Kingdom. Yaz released two studio albums during their short-lived career: "Upstairs at Eric's" in 1982 and "You and Me Both" in 1983. Their music was characterized by its combination of electronic beats and Moyet's powerful vocals.
Despite their brief time together, Yaz had several hit singles, including "Don't Go" and "Only You." The duo disbanded in 1983 due to creative differences, with Moyet pursuing a successful solo career and Clarke going on to form the electronic group Erasure. Yaz's influence on the synth-pop genre has endured, with their music continuing to be celebrated by fans and critics alike.
