Yo-Yo, whose real name is Yolanda Whittaker, is an American rapper and actress who was born on August 4, 1971, in Compton, California. She gained fame in the early 1990s as one of the few female rappers in a male-dominated genre. Yo-Yo released her debut album, "Make Way for the Motherlode," in 1991, which featured the hit single "You Can't Play with My Yo-Yo." She followed up with several more albums throughout the 1990s, including "Black Pearl" and "Total Control."


In addition to her music career, Yo-Yo has also appeared in several films and television shows. She had a recurring role on the popular TV show "Martin" and appeared in movies such as "Boyz n the Hood" and "Menace II Society." Yo-Yo is known for her socially conscious lyrics and her advocacy for women's empowerment in the hip-hop industry.
