Yvonne Elliman is an American singer, songwriter, and actress who gained popularity in the 1970s. She was born on December 29, 1951, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Elliman's music career took off when she was discovered by music impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber, who cast her as Mary Magdalene in the original rock opera production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" on Broadway in 1971.


Elliman's performance in "Jesus Christ Superstar" led to the success of her debut album in 1972, which included the hit single "I Don't Know How to Love Him." She continued to release successful albums throughout the 1970s and is best known for her disco hits "If I Can't Have You" and "Love Pains." Elliman's music career also included collaborations with artists such as Eric Clapton. In addition to her music career, she has also appeared in films and television shows.
