Yvonne Elliman is an American singer, songwriter, and actress born on December 29, 1951, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She rose to fame in the 1970s with her hit songs such as "If I Can't Have You" and "Love Me." Elliman gained widespread recognition for her role as Mary Magdalene in the original Broadway production and film adaptation of "Jesus Christ Superstar," which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 1973.
In addition to her successful music career, Yvonne Elliman has collaborated with renowned artists such as Eric Clapton, singing backup vocals on his hit songs "I Shot the Sheriff" and "Lay Down Sally." She continued to release music throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and in 2019, she was inducted into the Hawaii Music Hall of Fame for her contributions to the music industry.
