Artist Bio

Artist Bio:
Zapp is an American funk band formed in 1978 by the Troutman family. The band's core members were Roger Troutman, Larry Troutman, Lester Troutman, Terry Troutman, and Gregory Jackson. Zapp was known for their use of the talk box, a device that allowed the musicians to create a robotic vocal effect. Their music blended elements of funk, soul, and R&B, and they achieved commercial success with hits like "More Bounce to the Ounce" and "Dance Floor." Zapp's sound has been influential in shaping the development of contemporary R&B and hip-hop music.

Tragically, the band faced a devastating loss when Roger Troutman was shot and killed by his brother, Larry Troutman, in 1999. Despite this tragedy, Zapp's music continues to be celebrated and sampled by artists across different genres. The band's legacy lives on through their innovative and funky sound, which has left an indelible mark on the music industry.
