Artist Bio:
Zapp & Roger was an American funk band formed in 1978 by brothers Roger Troutman and Larry Troutman. The band's music is characterized by the heavy use of the talk box, a device that allows musicians to modulate their voice with an instrument, giving their vocals a robotic sound. Zapp & Roger are best known for their hit songs such as "More Bounce to the Ounce" and "Computer Love," which were influential in the development of electronic and funk music in the 1980s.
Roger Troutman, the lead vocalist and talk box player for the band, was also a successful solo artist, known for his distinctive voice and production style. Tragically, Roger Troutman was shot and killed by his brother Larry in a murder-suicide in 1999, which marked the end of the band's original lineup. Despite this tragic event, Zapp & Roger's music continues to be celebrated and sampled by artists across different genres.
